About DAVE FURY

DAVE FURY is a Dallas, Texas born and raised drummer and musician, and also works hard to advocate music culture in the DFW area and beyond.
Dave is a working drummer who is presently playing with THE MARFALITES.

SHORT BIO:
After a few years gone, Dave got back into the scene in Dallas in the latter half of 2005. In 2006, Dave organized a Texas blues band initially named JOE RAY and the FENDERTONES, who recorded a 6 song EP of original and cover material. The CD was recorded locally in Dallas at NOISEVAULT STUDIOS, and it was engineered by James Johnson and produced by Dave Fury. Contributing members included Joe Ray Gonzalez on guitar and vocals, Santos Roblez on bass, Dave Fury on drums and vocals, Stephen Turney on keyboards, and Melvin Wells on tenor saxophone. Mr. Wells had played with 80's band CAMEO and later with Luther Vandross.
The songs saw some radio play such as on KNON in Dallas, and a select few other US terrestrial radio stations. That CD is available directly from Dave HERE.
Shortly after, that project disbanded and Dave was on the hunt for new players.

Dave played briefly with a band called CODE BLUE, that played mostly contemporary cover songs for live audiences. Not fitting what he really wanted to do, he moved on.

In late 2006, Dave met local singer/songwriter Noah Caveny and formed THE TRUCKSTOP JUNKIES. In early 2007, TSJ cut a demo track called "BLINK" at Ida Road Studios in Tom Bean, Texas, which was later purtied up and mastered via James Johnson at NOISEVAULT STUDIOS in Dallas, Texas. That song eventually went on to receive airplay in several countries, such as England, Wales, Australia, Denmark, and Canada, as well as all over the USA. In the summer of 2007, and at the behest of Brett Dillon (DJ for 95.3 THE RANGE, in Dallas), TSJ entered the SHINER BOCK RISING STAR competition (a battle of the bands kind of contest.) TSJ had no real interest in winning, but did anyway, beating out great acts like NATE KIPP, CC CROSS, and MO ROBSON.
The prize was a "record contract" with Shiner Records, with logistics directed by Chris Thomas of Palo Duro Records. TSJ went to Nashville and cut a record under the supervision of Dan Baird (of Georgia Satellites and Homemade Sin fame) in December 2008. It was actually Dan Baird who gave Dave the name "Diamond Dave", which stuck. Engineering of the album was handled by Ben Strano. The album was never commercially released, due to contractural problems.
After a break up and reassessment of priorities, the band eventually reformed as THE MARFALITES, with whom Dave still plays.

In early 2007, Dave hooked up with bass player Chris Johnson and founded what became Beatles "homage" (and hobby) band, SCRAMBLED EGGS.
Dave played with SCRAMBLED EGGS and THE TRUCKSTOP JUNKIES simultaneously for a time.
Guitarist Jim Sibley joined in on lead guitar. The band recorded a demo CD of 6 songs at NOISEVAULT STUDIOS in Dallas in the summer of 2007. After a succession of changes at guitar, and the addition of keyboards, and after several shows played, Dave moved on from SCRAMBLED EGGS in December 2009 to pursue other endeavors. The band changed their name to MOJO FILTER in March 2010 and continue with Chris Johnson and new members, and are preparing to reemerge in the Dallas market.

In between those efforts, Dave also contributed to SOUTHERN KARMA's demo EP in 2009. He also played with a few other musicians on various projects. Dave also undertook booking shows for bands and venues in the Dallas area and beyond, called that effort "DAVE FURY PRESENTS", under the guise of "DFP PRODUCTIONS", which still books events on an infrequent basis.

Dave has also played live shows on a fill-in basis with bands such as THE TEXAS REDLEGS, CC CROSS, SOUTHERN KARMA, SPECTER 45, HANS FLENTGE, and others.

Prior to 2005, Dave played infrequently with a few bands all over the country where his Army deployment schedule would allow. The BILL TOLBERT BAND (Augusta, Georgia) and HIGHWAY 51 (East Coast) are examples of that.

He also recorded many other songs himself and with various artists at various different times from the 80s until now, with various projects of many different genres.
